DGPT Player of the Year comes down to these three things:
Media Vote (33% weight)
DGPT World Standings (33% weight)
Tour Card Holder Vote (33% weight)
MPO Player of the Year
Even though it’s clear as crystal who will win the 2024 MPO Player of the Year award, I still decided to make a graph showcasing the best MPO players of the 2024 season.
Note: There’s only one “major” statline that Gannon Buhr didn’t win, and that’s Podium Finishes. Buhr’s 2024 season is truly historic and one for the record books!
Yes, please! Hopefully, heâll get plenty of practice during the off-season and continue touring in 2025! Iâd also love to see him play in Europe, especially at the DGPT stops and the two MajorsâWorlds in Finland and the European DG Festival in Estonia.
I’m 100% sure heâd be blown away by the size of the crowds and the incredible organization of these events.

Research Study on Effects of Thumb Position!
“The effects of thumb position on backhand disc golf throws of a mid-range disc.”
The study investigated the effects of thumb position on applied torque, launch speed, and spin rate in backhand throws of a mid-range disc, and the TLDR summary is something like:
(1) Throws with higher spin rates tended to have higher throw speeds.
(2) A thumb position about 3 cm (or just over an inch) from the edge of the rim showed the most favorable combination of average launch speed and spin rate.
Now that itâs been a week since the 2024 DGPT season officially ended, Ricky Wysocki has decided to weigh in on the âbest season ever?â debate, comparing 2015 McBeth to 2024 Buhr. He stated, âCompeting with both week in and week out itâs Mcbeth and itâs not even close!!â
Yes, Wysocki has played against both 2015 McBeth and 2024 Buhr, but for me and countless other fans, Rickyâs statement felt a little strangeâespecially after his own historic collapse, blowing a 6-stroke lead to Gannon Buhr at the 2024 DGPT ChampionshipâŠ
So, what do you think? Is Ricky just a bit salty, or was McBethâs 2015 season truly far superior?
Rickyâs statement on the best season ever debate.
In addition, things escalated pretty rapidly after Ricky Wysocki stated that McBeth’s 2015 season is far better than Buhr’s 2024 season.
San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease going ALL-IN on disc golf?!
Dylan Cease has been an avid disc golfer for years. He is currently a pitcher for the MLB San Diego Padres and is mostly associated with his business partner, six-time Disc Golf World Champion Paul McBeth. Together, they own multiple disc golf courses and are now looking for ways to further expand their businesses!
A week ago, the news broke about Cease and McBeth resurrecting Supreme Flight, the iconic disc golf brand founded by Paul McBeth. The brand has been revived through a collaboration between the six-time World Champion and the star pitcher for the San Diego Padres, Dylan Cease.

Few days later Brixton Disc Golf announced that Dylan Cease is now the new co-owner of Brixton Disc Golf: ‘We look forward to creating even more value for the game, its collectors, players, and all our partners who help make everything possible.’
Brixton Disc Golf cards are the officially licensed cards of the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT).
MVP/Axiom Balance was initially met with cheers and excitement from fans, but things quickly turned as complaints arose about Essential Discs already having a disc named Balance (which is the first time Iâm hearing about this brand)âŠ
PDGA Approved Disc Golf Discs named âBalanceâ.
Things even got so heated that MVP decided to release a statement about the topic:
“There is a disc currently PDGA approved for the name âBalance.â Knowing why we have submitted a Prototype for approval is one thing, but why are we submitting a disc name for a name that has technically already been approved by the PDGA? The answer there is that MVP believes we have already secured the registered trademark rights to the name âBalanceâ for use in disc golf.” – MVP Disc Sport.
